New ‘MIDNIGHT PURPLE’ 3DS available May 20th in North America
A new midnight purple-colored 3DS is scheduled to release May 20th in North America for $169.99, Nintendo announced today. There has yet to be any announcement on a European release or price.
Rumors of the new color first reared their head when a listing on website Sam’s Club appeared for a “3DS Midnight Purple 3DS Handheld” priced at $168.58.
This is the fifth color available for the system, joining Nintendo’s previously released Cosmo Black, Aqua Blue, Flame Red and Pearl Pink 3DS’.
The release of the midnight purple 3DS is timed with May 20 launch of Mario Tennis Open but will not be a bundle release.

Just to sum up, its a 3D bust i made of my own head using 3D Studio Max for asset creation with Mental Ray rendering and of course textured using Adobe Photoshop CS5.
Junichi Masuda, the director of Pokémon Black and White appeared on Japanese TV show Pokémon Sunday today to announce the next entries in the Pokémon series. They are Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2.
The games are scheduled to release in June for Nintendo DS systems, in Japan. DSi and 3DS players will apparently be able to take advantage of extra features.
Website Siliconera also reported that Masuda’s announcement revealed two new forms for Kyurem (pictured above), which will be the games’ mascots. Their names will be revealed later.
At a 10th anniversary event for the Ace Attorney series in Tokyo, Capcom officially announced Ace Attorney 5, revealing the above logo. No specifics about the game were offered, including date, platform, or characters — and there’s no character silhouette in the logo to show us who the star is.
The event also brought a small amount of news relating to Professor Layton Vs. Ace Attorney for 3DS: the animated cutscenes are produced by anime studio Bones, and the game is due sometime this year.
Finally, new HD versions of the first three Ace Attorneys will be released on iOS. Check this Famitsu article for screens of the newly refreshed sprites.
SnakeSkin 3DS Console Announced for Metal Gear Solid 3D: Snake Eater Bundle
Today, Kojima Productions announced, via Twitter, that the 3DS bundled with Metal Gear Solid 3D will have a unique Snakeskin design.
The first official Snakeskin design for a console, Kojima Productions also gave the above picture as a teaser to those who would be picking up the console.
No pricing information or exact release date for the bundle will be announced until January 20th 2012. There’s also no word of whether the console will be available without the game or even if is going to be available outside Japan. We shall just have to wait and see.
Limited Edition Zelda 3DS Console confirmed for Europe
We lucky souls here in Europe are set to get an exclusive 25th Zelda Anniversary Edition of the 3DS console, bundled with a special gold cover version of the Ocarina Of Time 3D game.
The Bundle will release in the UK on November 25th at £169.99
Nintendo has announced that its two new Mario 3DS games will be released before the end of the year. This includes a 3D version of Mario Kart as well as the new Mario 3D platformer.
On Wii, Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will arrive this year, while Xenoblade Chronicles, We Dance and Champion Jockey will hit shelves on September 2nd.
Mystery Case Files: The Malgrave Incident will be released on September 9th, followed by Disney’s Phineas and Ferb Across the 2nd Dimension on September 16th.
We Sing UK Hits is out on September 30th, while Jungle Kartz and X-Men Destiny have been confirmed for a September release, too.
3DS owners will be able to buy Sega’s Shinobi and Crush3D in September, as well as Konami’s Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater before the end of the year.
The publisher’s Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights will be released on 3DS this summer. DualPenSports and Angler’s Club: Ultimate Bass Fishing 3D will hit shelves on September 2nd.
On the 3DS eShop, digital downloads for Xevious, Dragon’s Lair and Mario’s Picross will go on sale next month, while Let’s Golf 3D and Jagged Alliance will be available soon afterwards.
New DS game Professor Layton and the Spectre’s Call will also hit shelves this year, as will a new Wii Kirby title.
Nintendo previously confirmed Star Fox 64 3D will be released on September 9th for 3DS.
According to a report in Japanese video games magazine Famitsu, the next 3DS firmware update that is due sometime this may will include the following:

- DSi Ware - import DSi Ware from DSi to 3DS
- 3D Classics - classic titles in 3D, Excitebike, Legend of Zelda and Xevious will be available

- Virtual Console Game Gear - Sonic & Tails 2, Sonic Drift 2, Dragon Crystal, Columns
- Virtual Console GameBoy Color - Super Mario Land, The Legend of Zelda DX (Demo)
- Virtual Console PC Engine - games TBA
- Demos - 3D Video Player, 3D Game Trailer/Previews Channel, Fuji TV and Nippon TV Previews
Some of these titles may of course be japan exclusive but its still an impressive line up to launch the store but I cant help but notice that the Internet browser that was supposed to be due at the same time as the store is absent from the list. Lets hope if it doesn’t come with this update we dont have to wait too long after.
