Nintendo 3DS XL revealed
Nintendo have revealed a brand new version of their 3DS handheld at their Nintendo Direct Conference. Just like the revised DS handhelds, the Nintendo 3DS XL will be significantly bigger than its predecessor, but also boast extended battery life.
With a 4.88-inch top screen it is 90% larger than the original 3DS handheld. And while it’s heavier too (336 grams to the 3DS’ 235 grams), the Nintendo 3DS XL will also have a much larger battery, good for between 3.5-6.5 hours for 3DS games, and 6-10 hours for DS titles.
Measuring 93mm x width 156mm x 22mm overall when closed, the 3DS XL also houses a 4GB SD card, twice the size of that found in the original 3DS. Red, Blue and Silver shades will be available to buy at launch.
However, there are a few omissions that seem incredibly cynical on Nintendo’s behalf. Firstly, the 3DS XL will not come packaged with a charger. You’ll have to buy that separately, which may be fine for those who already have a compatible 3DS, DSi, and DS XL AC adapters, but first time buyers will have to shell out straight away for something that should come included as standard.
Secondly, there’s no second Circle Pad analogue stick, something sorely missing from the original design, and only later rectified by a clumsy add-on accessory. Nintendo could have righted that wrong here, but now those looking to play Monster Hunter and Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D on the 3DS XL will have to hold out for a modified version of the Circle Pad Pro accessory.
The 3DS XL touches down in Europe on July 28th, followed by an American and Japanese release on August 19th. No pricing information is available yet for the UK, but US readers can expect to pay $199.99, equal to £128.
New ‘MIDNIGHT PURPLE’ 3DS available May 20th in North America
A new midnight purple-colored 3DS is scheduled to release May 20th in North America for $169.99, Nintendo announced today. There has yet to be any announcement on a European release or price.
Rumors of the new color first reared their head when a listing on website Sam’s Club appeared for a “3DS Midnight Purple 3DS Handheld” priced at $168.58.
This is the fifth color available for the system, joining Nintendo’s previously released Cosmo Black, Aqua Blue, Flame Red and Pearl Pink 3DS’.
The release of the midnight purple 3DS is timed with May 20 launch of Mario Tennis Open but will not be a bundle release.
Pokémon Black 2, Pokémon White 2 Coming This Summer
Junichi Masuda, the director of Pokémon Black and White appeared on Japanese TV show Pokémon Sunday today to announce the next entries in the Pokémon series. They are Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2.
The games are scheduled to release in June for Nintendo DS systems, in Japan. DSi and 3DS players will apparently be able to take advantage of extra features.
Website Siliconera also reported that Masuda’s announcement revealed two new forms for Kyurem (pictured above), which will be the games’ mascots. Their names will be revealed later.
Today I aquired lots of new brushes, fine tipped pens, calligraphy pens, Japanese markers, drawing pencils, colour pencils, paints, inks, drawing pads and a beautiful Quill pen. Just Amazing, so freaking happy ^_^

NCR Ranger Cosplay from AyaCon 2011
This is me dressed in my full NCR Ranger costume at AyaCon 2011, the first time I’ve worn this out to an event. It seemed to go down well and I’m so happy with how it came out.
I’ll upload a few more pics soon from some professional shoots I had over the weekend. Just wanted to share this until then.
Just finished making the body armour for my NCR Ranger cosplay. It’s all coming together at last, can start on making the jacket tomorrow and then it’s only a few other detail pieces then I can do a final full photo shoot in the costume.
